Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning
This afternoon the NHL had its first major offseason trade as Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh has been traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
After months of no trades to end the season into the Stanley Cup Playoffs fans can finally rejoice as the first offseason trade has been finalized. Despite the Stanley Cup Playoffs still continuing the Nashville Predators have traded Ryan McDonagh to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a pair of draft picks.
To Nashville: 2025 2nd Round Pick and 2024 7th Round Pick
To Tampa Bay: Ryan McDonagh and a 2024 4th Round Pick
The trade allows the Nashville Predators to continue the retooling of their roster. Under soon to be second year GM Barry Trotz the Nashville Predators could be looking to overhaul their roster.
The Tampa Bay Lightning continue to reload for another Stanley Cup Playoff run in 2024-25. Ryan McDonaugh is a familiar face in Tampa Bay and one that can be relied on.
The question now becomes how the Lightning proceed with Steven Stamkos with even less salary cap space after taking on Ryan McDonaugh.
