TSN have always had a little bias against teams outside of Toronto, and now that's been shown perfectly with their latest disrespect towards the Canadiens.
In Canada, TSN is often known by many outside of Toronto as the 'Toronto Sports Network', with many criticizing the bias that many at the company continue to show towards the Maple Leafs and other Toronto based teams.
That was on full display recently when the topic of ranking defenses around the NHL came up, with TSN clearly disagreeing with the NHL Network and showing their bias against the Canadiens.
NHL Network Believes Montreal Canadiens Have Top-5 Defense; TSN Disagrees
Earlier last week, NHL Network ranked defensive groups around the NHL, and in the process, they talked about the acquisition of
Noah Dobson making the Habs blue line one of the 5 best in the National Hockey League.
However,
in their latest ranking, TSN severely disagrees, putting the Canadiens in the third tier of defensive units around the league, meaning that at the very best, they have Montreal ranked 13th in the league.
With a Calder Trophy winning campaign from
Lane Hutson and the acquisition of Dobson, this team is one of the most talented in all of hockey, and with good veterans to balance them out, they'll be one of the best teams in the East next season.
Florida Panthers disrespected in rankings too
Not only that, but TSN also disrespected the Panthers, ranking them in tier 2 of defensive units in the NHL, despite the group consistently proving in the post-season just how good they are.
Ultimately, there are many reasons to disrespect this ranking, but given how widely praised the Canadiens have been for the building of their blue line, it's hard to look past TSN's disrespect.
