Martin St. Louis Calls Out NHL Referees After Losing Crucial Game 4 to the Capitals
Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis let the refs hear it after last night's loss to the Capitals in game four of their first-round series.
Jakub Dobes and his teammates put up a valiant effort in game four against
the Washington Capitals last night, but ultimately they dropped the gave by a final score of 5-2, and will now face elimination in game five.
But clearly, it was Ovechkin who had the last laugh as he and his teammates are now just one win away from advancing to the second round.
The final score is not entirely indicative of how the game was played though as it was very close until late in the 3rd period when
Andrew Mangiapane put the Capitals up 3-2.
The Capitals would add two empty netters to complete the scoring.
After the game, Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis revealed that he was confused by the officials, saying, "I will be careful with my words but it's hard to watch some of these calls."
There were certainly some questionable moments in the game, such as this hit by
Tom Wilson just moments before the go-ahead goal was scored.
Or this hit by
Alexander Ovechkin that resulted in a two minute minor penalty for interference.
At the end of the day though, the Canadiens can only control their play on the ice and clearly the Capitals have been the better team.
This series has arguably been closer than expected though, giving Habs fans a taste of what is going to happen in the years to come.
