The Washington Capitals fell in Game 3 in Montreal, but now their captain has dismissed the lauded atmosphere in the Bell Centre after a dominant win by the Canadiens last time out.
While many expected the Washington Capitals to steamroll through the Montreal Canadiens in their first-round series, things became very interesting in Game 3 when the home team rode the electric atmosphere in the Bell Centre to a huge victory.
Game 4 now takes place on Sunday, and if Montreal can pick up another key victory, it would set this series up in a major way for a potential upset in the 1v8 matchup, which no one gave them much of a chance in.
While many see the Bell Centre as a major advantage, that apparently doesn't apply to captain Alex Ovechkin, as he was asked about the atmosphere in Montreal, and this is how he responded:
"It was pretty much the same as in Washington."
Anyone watching this game from a neutral perspective can tell that the Bell Centre brings arguably the best atmosphere in all of sports in North America, but given the amount of experience that Ovechkin has, he's seen every type of crowd possible.
Unfortunately for Ovi in Game 3, the Capitals offense simply couldn't find their consistency, and with just three goals scored and an injury to goaltender
Logan Thompson, the Canadiens rode the intensity from their own fans to pick up the 6-3 win.
Now, both teams face what is a must-win game for this series, as the winner could turn the tide in their favour with a victory, and while Ovechkin may have dismissed the home crowd in Montreal, the Canadiens will be riding that support from their fans as they look to push for a major upset.
