The Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis confirmed the injury fate of Samuel Montembeault in a press conference ahead of Game 4 against the Capitals.

In the third matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals, the Habs goaltender Samuel Montembeault had to retreat to the locker room midway through the game due to an injury.
After allowing two goals in the first half of the game, Montembeault went to inform Jim Ramsay, the team's head therapist, of the situation. He then stayed in the action for a few additional minutes, giving his teammate Jakub Dobes time to stretch in the locker room before stepping in.
Following the game, Dobes shared details about his experience and Montembeault's situation:
"You can't even imagine how I was feeling. I was scared, for sure, but I was excited. I was also emotional. I cried at the end of the game. I was completely disorganized. But I know my routine. I know I'm a good goalie."

"I hope Monty comes back as soon as possible. But I love this feeling. I love playing. I love these moments more than anything. If he can't play the next game, I'll be excited and ready. I'd be happy to step up and help the team win."

Yesterday, Martin St. Louis had not ruled him out for the game:
"Martin St. Louis says Samuel Montembeault is still being evaluated."

"He has not yet ruled him out for Game 4, as the evaluation is ongoing." - Eric Engels
However, today, the Habs called up Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket, indicating Monty could miss tonight's game.
In a new development, St. Louis confirmed in a press conference that Montembeault is listed day-to-day with an injury:
This means that unless another turn of events occurs, we should see Jakub Dobes in action tonight as the Habs look to even the series at 2 before going back to Washington for the fifth game of the series.
