Frank Seravalli says the Canadiens could sweeten their offer for Dylan Larkin after a five-piece Kirill Marchenko package went nowhere.
Frank Seravalli thinks the Montreal Canadiens would chase Dylan Larkin hard, and he believes they could raise their offer to land him.
The insider shared the take on Frankly Hockey on October 12.
"I think back to the package that Montreal offered for Kirill Marchenko. [...] So a five piece package that was for Marchenko knowing how Larkin would solve their problems like they might be more amen, not that it's a huge problem, but they might be more amendable to making this sweeter to make it work. And I think they're aggressive would aggressively pursue making that."

Seravalli pointed back to what Montreal put together for Kirill Marchenko.
He described it as a five-piece package, and he has reported it included two forwards and a defenseman from the current roster, a first-round pick and a conditional pick that could become a first.
Why Larkin changes the math
His thinking is simple. Montreal went all in on a winger who was never a pressing need, so a center who fills a real hole should bring even more urgency.
Captain Nick Suzuki already anchors the group, and the Canadiens have been linked to a second top center for months.
An NHL executive also told Seravalli that Montreal can give Detroit what it wants.
The catch is that Larkin has not added the Canadiens to his list of acceptable destinations.
What stands in the way
Larkin asked Detroit for a trade in June and lost the captaincy before the season.
His eight-year, $69.6 million contract from March 2023 includes a no-trade clause, and his cap hit is $8.7 million.
He first named only Florida, Minnesota and Vegas as destinations.
Marchenko is off the board now, since Toronto acquired him from Columbus on September 28 and extended him.
Larkin made his season debut for the Red Wings on October 6 against Ottawa, and the trade request is still unresolved.
For now, the next move belongs to Larkin.
If he opens the door to Montreal, Seravalli expects the Canadiens to knock with something bigger.
