Martin St. Louis is holding his cards close to his chest ahead of game 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. A question about the power play went unanswered today.
When asked about Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield’s abysmal 5v5 performance so far in this series, Martin St. Louis said absolutely nothing — shaking his head in disappointment.
Yes, Suzuki and Caufield have been suppressed at 5v5, but there are more factors to consider. Jon Cooper has potentially overplanned for the Canadiens’ first line, leaving their other three against weaker competition, where they are generating nicely.
The Habs’ reputation as a one-line team led to this, but Cooper must adapt to get the energy back on the Bolts’ side.
Lane Hutson’s game 3 heroics give Canadiens a series lead
Friday night’s game 3 was an incredible faceoff, going to overtime, and ending with a 90 mile per hour rocket from undersized phenom Lane Hutson.
With a 2-1 series lead on the recent modern-dynasty Lightning, a dangerous 3-1 lead is in reach. Hutson, who’s among the top in the league in ice time currently in these playoffs, will play a pivotal role in a possible Canadiens win.
The NHL’s longest tenured coach in Jon Cooper will have a tough challenge winning against this momentum-filled Habs roster, but his players have faced adversity before — they’ll need to be locked in tonight.
We’re mere hours away from finding out.
