Montreal Canadiens fans have a plan for Saturday night, and it involves making Dylan Larkin feel wanted.

Supporters are being urged to fill the Bell Centre with “We Want Larkin” chants when the Detroit Red Wings visit, hoping the noise convinces the veteran center to add Montreal to his no-trade list.
The push started on social media, where Canadiens accounts asked fans to cheer as loudly as possible every time Larkin touches the puck.
Local station BPM Sports also suggested the crowd try to charm the American forward into waiving his no-movement clause.
Not everyone is sold. Some fans love the creativity, while others think begging a player who has reportedly kept Montreal off his list looks desperate.

Why Montreal Wants Larkin

Larkin is 30 years old, carries an $8.7 million cap hit and has two points in two games since returning to Detroit's lineup.
Pairing him with Nick Suzuki, who already has seven points through four games, would give Montreal a dangerous one-two punch down the middle.
Elliotte Friedman has said the fit makes sense, calling Montreal an ideal place where Larkin would be adored. The Canadiens enter the night at 1-2-1 after a 5-2 loss to Nashville, while Detroit sits at 1-3-0.

Can the Bell Centre Change His Mind?

Convincing Larkin will not be simple. He holds a no-movement clause and has focused on a handful of preferred destinations, with Montreal not among them right now.
Only if those options run dry might he open the door to teams he previously rejected.
There is also a risk for general manager Kent Hughes. Paying a steep price for a player who does not truly want to be in Montreal is how franchises end up with regret, and noise from the stands should not drive that decision.
Still, few buildings in hockey can turn up the volume like the Bell Centre. Puck drops at 7 p.m. ET, and Montreal will get its chance to make the pitch. Whether Larkin hears a serenade or just background noise is the question nobody can answer yet.
