Jacob Stoller, a reporter for The Hockey News, was first to report today that the Canadiens are shopping the youngster. He pointed out how the team currently has an abundance of young defenders to choose from and Harris is simply the odd man out.
Harris may not have much value to contending teams, buy other rebuilding teams may very well be quick to pounce on this rare opportunity to add a young player via trade. Harris has just 6 goals and 24 points though 106 career NHL games, but he has held his own on a bad Canadiens team for two years in a row now. His career rating is just -5 and he averages over a block and a half per game, showcasing a willingness to sacrifice the body to make a play. Those kinds of qualities are highly sought after in the NHL, so the Canadiens may not have much difficulty finding a trade partner for the young defenseman.
