Kirill Kaprizov finally agreed on the terms of a record-breaking contract extension with the Minnesota Wild, following months of tough negotiations.
Kaprizov Signs Record-Breaking Eight-Year Deal With Minnesota
As expected, Kaprizov is set to become the highest-paid player in the NHL next season.
Indeed, he signed an eight-year contract with a whopping $17M AAV.
The team shared the news in a post on X:
Kaprizov has been among the best players in the NHL since he came into the League in 2020.
The forward took part in 319 regular-season games with the Wild, tallying 386 points, including 185 goals. He added 15 goals and six assists in 25 playoff games over four runs with Minnesota.
He hasn't been able to compete in a full season since 2021-22, being limited every year with injuries, including half of last season due to knee surgery.
If he can stay healthy for the full regular season, he will be among the League's top scorers, alongside NHL superstars
Nathan MacKinnon and
Connor McDavid.
Speaking of which, it'll be interesting to see how this will affect McDavid's next contract. Many rumors are questioning the Oilers captain's future in Edmonton, and it will stay that way until a deal is announced.
Meanwhile, other updates are expected concerning Kaprizov, as the player is currently suffering from an eye infection, preventing him from taking part in the preseason for now.
