New Quinn Hughes teammate Brock Faber shares hilarious story about being taken off PP1
Brock Faber landed a new defensive partner in the blockbuster Quinn Hughes trade, and now he's opened up on potentially being replaced on the PP1.
While there's been plenty happening around the National Hockey League this season, all anyone can talk about in the past 24 hours is one of the most shocking trades in NHL history when the Minnesota Wild gave up key future assets to acquire Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes.
Not only did it give them one of the best forward-defenseman-goaltender trio's in the entire league, but it also gave them perhaps the top defensive pairing in the entire league as Hughes is set to join the rising star Brock Faber.
Faber jokes that he's lost his spot on the top power play unit
While the arrival of Hughes brings with it immense excitement, it means that some players will be losing key time moving forward, including Faber, who likely isn't going to be on the top PP unit anymore.
When he was interviewed following the trade, Faber joked that his friends were mad that Hughes would be taking his spot on the top PP unit, clearly concerned for their friend.
Obviously, this was all in good jest, as Faber is likely to slide to PP2, and given the talent all over those units, it's very easy to see why Minnesota made this deal as they push to finally go deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Only time will tell if things work out that well or not, and while Faber's friends aren't too thrilled about the idea of losing the top spot on PP1, it's safe to say that adding a player the caliber of Hughes is only going to be seen as a positive moving forward.
