Kirill Kaprizov expected to get a huge deal in Minnesota this off-season, but now, according to Frank Seravalli, he's turned down a historic deal.

Heading into this summer, there were expected to be several big time extensions handed out, and while there's been some movement, the biggest stars are still on the board.
Connor McDavid is yet to re-sign in Edmonton, and now, the negotiations between Kirill Kaprizov and the Minnesota Wild have become turbulent after a shocking recent development.

Kaprizov turns down a history making deal from the Wild

According to Frank Seravalli, the Wild have tabled an offer of eight-years, $128 million ($16 million AAV) for Kirill Kaprizov, a deal that would have made him the highest paid player in NHL history, both by total money and AAV.
However, the 28-year old has reportedly turned down the deal, leaving many to believe that if he turned this down, his time in Minnesota may be coming to an end.
On paper, Kaprizov is as talented as anyone in the NHL after putting up 152 points in his last 116 games played, but if he won't accept this deal with Minnesota, that may simply mean he's looking to move on from the organization, no matter what it costs.
Sure, the salary cap is going up, but given that the Russian winger has played 70 or more games in just two of his five seasons in the NHL thus far, many believe that the offer he was given would be an overpay, meaning the team likely won't go beyond that in their offer for him.
From here, it's unclear where things go between Minnesota and Kaprizov, as anything could happen whether it be a trade, an NHL record-breaking extension or letting him depart in free agency, but after turning down $128 million, Kaprizov clearly believes he can get more on the open market.
