LA Kings GM Ken Holland reportedly makes controversial decision on head coach

The Los Angeles Kings have been a consistent presence in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a number of years now, but to this point, they've failed to go deep under Head Coach Jim Hiller.

Last year, things hit their lowest when he made an intriguing decision that potentially cost this team against the rival Edmonton Oilers, with many believing that his role in LA was soon to come to an end.

However, the Kings have stuck it out with Hiller, and with a record of 19-16-13, they're in the playoff hunt once again, and now, it appears as though he will remain behind the bench as long as that is the case.

That is, according to Pierre LeBrun in The Athletic anyway, as he notes that General Manager Ken Holland isn't planning on making a move, and with the Kings in the hunt for a playoff spot, that likely won't change moving forward.

Despite their record, the Kings are tied for both the final Wild Card spot and the third spot in the Pacific Division, and while there's teams in between them, given their experience, it's easy to see why they're optimistic about grabbing one of those spots.

Ultimately, Hiller has proven thus far that he can't lead this team deep in the post-season, but given how close they are in the standings this season, it appears he may have one final shot at doing just that in LA.
