Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice chirped the entire NHL player base by saying no one knows how to chirp anymore.

Chirping and hockey go together like peanut butter and Jelly. It just makes sense.
Some of the sports greatest moments come when tensions are high and players get heated, which is exactly when we start to hear the best chirps.
Many players in today's NHL are known for their chirps including Brad Marchand, who recently chirped the entire Canadiens organization.
But Marchand is part of an older generation of players that grew up in a culture more defined by chirps.
The young players coming up today grew up playing in a far different environment than the players of Marchand's generation, and they simply do not have the experience with it.
Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice pointed this out with some recent comments about the culture of the sport.
He expressed disappointment that the art of chirping has seemingly fallen off player's radar in recent years.
"It's almost completely disappeared. They aren't as funny as they used to be, they used to be really, really funny. It's a completely a lost art. Kind of sad actually, some of the chirps are so bad and so sad. You're not good at hockey. You gotta do better than that."
Most of the league's best chirps have one thing in common and that is their age.
Whether it is Brad Marchand, Ryan Reaves, or Tom Wilson, most of them are coming towards the end of their careers.
Who knows what the landscape of the league might look like by the time all the players of Marchand's generation are gone.
After all, there already aren't that many of them left, and as Maurice points out, the quality of the average chirp in the NHL has already declined rapidly.
Hopefully this will start to change again as the new generations of players learn that it is okay to chirp their opponents on the ice, as long as they keep it respectful outside the arena.
