Brad Marchand shut down Panthers fire sale talk with one blunt reply, and the contracts back him up. Florida is 6-4-2 despite Barkov and Marchand being out.

Brad Marchand has zero interest in a Panthers teardown, and he made that clear with one short reply on Instagram.
It started when Sports Pessimist suggested on X that Florida could land a massive return for Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe, Aaron Ekblad, Gustav Forsling and Anton Lundell.
Hockey Patrol picked the topic up on Instagram and pointed out how quickly the mood has flipped around a team that built one of the most feared rosters in hockey.
Marchand responded by asking how many of those players have no-move clauses, then called the poster a dummy.
The frustration is easy to understand.
Florida missed the playoffs last season after back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2024 and 2025, and this year started slowly with captain Aleksander Barkov and Marchand both sidelined.

Marchand has a point about the contracts

He's right on the facts. Reinhart, Verhaeghe, Ekblad and Forsling all carry no-movement clauses, according to Pro Hockey Rumors, so none of them goes anywhere unless they agree to it.
Lundell is the lone name on that list without the same protection, and he's signed at $5 million per season through 2029-30.
Any real shake-up would need buy-in from the players themselves, and Marchand clearly isn't expecting that.

Should Florida wait it out?

The standings say patience is reasonable.
The Panthers are 6-4-2 after a 3-2 win in Chicago on Sunday, snapping a two-game skid, and they added Brady Tkachuk from Ottawa in June.
That's not a team waving a white flag.
Still, injuries to key players and a power play that opened the year near the bottom of the league keep the doubters loud.
If the results slide once the stars return, the calls for change will get louder.
For now, the room appears to be firmly against it.

Should the Panthers hold the core together instead of blowing it up?
