Tristan Jarry injured less than a week after trade to the Oilers
New Oilers goalie Tristan Jarry was hurt in tonight's game against the Boston Bruins, just his third start in an Edmonton sweater, and has left; he has been replaced by backup goalie Calvin Pickard.
Goaltender Tristan Jarry is making just his third start in an Edmonton Oilers sweater since the blockbuster trade last Friday from the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he's already banged up.
Jarry left tonight's game against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden after appearing to tweak something while trying to make a save late in the second period. He went to the bench and down the tunnel to the team locker room, and has been replaced by backup Calvin Pickard.
Jarry had stopped 12 of 13 shots before getting hurt and was replaced by Pickard.
He's already won his first two starts in an Oilers sweater, 6-3 over the Toronto Maple Leafs and 6-4 over the Penguins, his former team.
Tristan Jarry Said He Wants To Establish Further Roots In Edmonton
Jarry, who spent part of his junior career in Edmonton while playing with the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings, said he was happy to return where his career began and wants to establish further roots in northern Alberta.
Just my time playing there with Oil Kings, I enjoyed it so much. I have a lot of friends there, and I kind of grew up there a little bit. So when I had the opportunity to buy a home, that was where I decided to set roots. - Tristan Jarry
There are some Oilers fans who are concerned with the acquisition of Jarry, considering that he was waived by the Penguins last year and sent to the AHL before eventually coming back to the NHL.
Whether or not the move will pay off for the Oilers and GM Stan Bowman remains to be seen.
