Sam Carrick slashes Dmitry Kulikov between the legs causing major controversy

The Edmonton Oilers were looking to even their series against the Florida Panthers last night however a controversial action by Sam Carrick has dominated the headlines today.

During Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, the Edmonton Oilers needed a big win to tie up the series. While down a goal Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Carrick made a massive mistake spearing Dmitry Kulikov between the legs. The spear came as a response to a big him from Dmitry Kulikov moments before.

Immediately upon being slashed Dmitry Kulikov fell to the ground in pain. The referees stopped the game and penalties were given out. Sam Carrick would receive the only penalties on the play getting a two-minute penalty for slashing and a 10-minute misconduct as well.

The game would eventually end up leaning heavily in the Florida Panthers' favor. A two-goal night from Evan Rodrigues.

Now heading into Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals fans are calling for Sam Carrick to be suspended for his slash on Dmitry Kulikov. While this is unlikely at this point there will be an official ruling by the end of the day. Either way, the Edmonton Oilers need to find a way to rebound and win Game 3 if they want a legitimate chance at winning the Stanley Cup Finals.
