The Edmonton Oilers are looking to add some depth ahead of training camp, and now The Hockey News have identified four players for potential PTO's.
The Edmonton Oilers have fallen short in the Stanley Cup Finals for the past two seasons, and this off-season they've made plenty of changes, bringing in
Andrew Mangiapane and
Isaac Howard to transform this forward group.
However, they saw many more players leave than they brought in, meaning that they could still be looking to add ahead of training camp, with
The Hockey News identifying four players that the team could potentially look at for a Professional Tryout.
Unsurprisingly, there are two goaltenders on the list, with both
Ilya Samsonov and Carter Hart identified as players that could challenge
Calvin Pickard or even
Stuart Skinner for a role in net moving forward.
Beyond that, they've noted that both Klim Kostin and Max Pacioretty are options, with the latter most likely to be the one that could compete for a spot in the team's bottom six after playing a very solid 37 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs a season ago.
Either way, the Oilers will be looking rather different next season with their additions and subtractions this off-season, and with training camp coming up, the chance to push some of their current players is too good an opportunity to pass up.
Ultimately, this is a team that's on the verge of a Stanley Cup run, and while they've made some good changes this off-season, they've still got some moves to make, and with so many intriguing players out there potentially set to get a PTO this off-season, the Oilers need to take advantage.
