The junior 'Mammoth' hockey team is calling on the Utah Mammoth for help regarding funding and donations in order to grow the sport for the youth, per Belle Fraser.

Megan Marshall longs for consistent cold winters in the state of Utah, because if you've got iced-over ponds, there's hockey season.
Megan Marshall got involved with the Carbon County Mammoths junior hockey team some eight years ago when her little boy, a Detroit Red Wings fan, wanted to play the game.
Having the nearest arenas that had ice, 90 minutes from the house, she brought the game to her boy when she and her boy joined an outdoor team that practiced on an ice-covered pond at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.
Courtesy of the Korth Rebel Foundation and its president, Don Korth, they provided equipment and experience at no charge to children who would otherwise lack the means to play, as reported by Belle Fraser.
Nominated by the Huntington Mammoth team that has an exhibit at the hometown USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum, the team increased from 12 to over 40 members.
Marshall expands the program on social websites as well as hometown promotion, but variable ice conditions keep overall growth at bay.
Volunteer coaches like Nathaniel Christiansen and Drew Pitcher, fathers of hockey players themselves, have also kept the team afloat. Drew Pitcher even drives his kid all the way to Provo for extra ice time.

The Popularity of Hockey is Growing to New Heights in the State of Utah

Since the entrance of the NHL's Utah Mammoth into the state, the popularity of the game of hockey has already started to develop.
Smith Entertainment Group, who are the team owners, have invested in junior hockey in Utah, committing as much as $500,000 a rink to create 20 new arenas.
Junior players and their parents are hopeful for this continued help, as it will lead the game to continue to grow to new heights.
A permanent rink might just be a game-changer for the Carbon County Mammoths. Until that happens, however, they'll continue to hope for iced-over ponds and dream big.
