Former Maple Leafs 20-goal scorer linked to Oilers, Sharks ahead of camp

Calle Jarnkrok might not be a name that jumps off the page anymore, but somebody out there could still use him.

According to a new Daily Faceoff report, the 34 year old Swedish winger is one of a handful of under the radar names who could land on a professional tryout this fall, and two teams in particular have been floated as fits.

Jarnkrok looked like a steal when he scored 20 goals for the Maple Leafs back in 2022-23, but the years since have been brutal.

Injuries limited him to just 127 of a possible 246 games between 2023-24 and 2025-26, and last season was the worst of the stretch.

He posted only six goals and eight points in 56 games while averaging a career low 11:50 of ice time, buried in some of the toughest defensive zone usage of his career.

Hockey analyst Mike Gould summed up the uncertainty around his next stop.

The Oilers have already overhauled their blue line this summer, and their bottom six forward group still has question marks heading into camp.

A low cost look at a veteran like Jarnkrok wouldn't be a big swing, but it could be a smart one if he still has anything left in the tank.

San Jose was mentioned as the other possible suitor.

Nothing is close to official yet, and there's also a real chance Jarnkrok simply heads overseas to the SHL instead of chasing another NHL contract.

Camp battles like this one are worth watching once September rolls around.
