It was a scary scene last night when 30-year-old Detroit Red Wings affiliate Tyler Spezia took a hard collision with his teammate Cross Hanas during a match with the Chicago Wolves. The collision resulted in Spezia requiring immediate medical service and he was stretchered off the ice.
Tyler Spezia was injured during the first period of tonight's game in Chicago and taken to a local hospital. He is awake, alert, and doing well while awaiting more tests and undergoing precautionary measures. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers, Griffins Nation!
Spezia was never drafted into the NHL but over the course of his career, he has worked through the NCAA, ECHL, and AHL throughout his professional hockey career. He has been affiliated with the Red Wings for the past six years.
We still await official word on the true extent of Spezia's injury but we wish him nothing but the best on his road to recovery!
