Michael Russo says a Dylan Larkin trade is close, pointing to a Red Wings conference call. The Wild are still the team most tied to the center.

Dylan Larkin may not be a Red Wing for much longer.
Michael Russo of The Athletic told KFAN 100.3 on Tuesday that he believes a deal will get done soon, and he feels the Minnesota Wild remain the likeliest landing spot.
Russo said multiple sources have him under the impression that the Red Wings took part in a conference call recently.
He added that plenty of rumors are swirling about a deal getting close, though he did not say which team was on the other end.
"I think it's gonna happen soon. Like, I am under the impression, from multiple sources, that there was a conference call with the Red Wings the other day. I think there's a lot of rumors out there that it's getting close."

Why Minnesota keeps coming up

Larkin asked Detroit for a trade back in early June, and the Wild have been tied to him ever since.
Russo still thinks the center genuinely wants to play in Minnesota.
He believes that if Larkin felt otherwise, a deal with another club would already be finished.
The real hurdle, according to Russo, is how many teams are in the mix and how many of them Larkin would waive his no-trade clause for.
He holds a full no-trade clause this season on the eight-year, $69.6 million contract he signed in 2023.

What a deal could look like

Detroit reportedly wants players who can help right away.
Darren Dreger of TSN pointed to a package of three or four pieces, including a pair of top prospects, a forward ready for the Red Wings' top nine and a first-round pick.
Russo has said Minnesota would likely have to part with Danila Yurov or Charlie Stramel, and he does not expect the Wild to move Jonas Brodin.
Detroit sits at 3-3-2 on the young season, and Larkin has scored at least 30 goals in each of the last three years, so this is a real loss for the Red Wings.
John Buccigross said last Friday that a move could come within seven to 10 days, which puts the timeline right around now.
