Dallas Stars send Jason Robertson to Philadelphia in blockbuster trade proposal

The Dallas Stars winger signed a one-year, $12 million contract this summer instead of a long-term extension, which means he is ticking toward unrestricted free agency next July unless the sides agree to a new deal.

That timeline, combined with Dallas needing to find cap room for raises to players like Thomas Harley, keeps Robertson's name attached to trade speculation.

The Flyers have been connected to Robertson largely because of their salary structure.

Philadelphia is projected to carry roughly fifty million dollars in cap space next season, one of the largest cushions in the league, and general manager Daniel Briere has been open about wanting to add scoring up front.

A workable proposal would send Robertson to Philadelphia in exchange for winger Tyson Foerster, a 2027 first-round pick, and a mid-tier prospect such as forward Denver Barkey.

Dallas gets a cost-controlled scorer entering his prime and added draft capital to reload, while shedding a twelve-million-dollar cap hit carried by a pending free agent.

For Dallas, the return addresses two needs at once, controllable young talent and future assets, without committing to Robertson's next contract, which could approach fifteen million dollars annually based on the offer he rejected from Seattle.

For Philadelphia, adding a proven scorer accelerates a rebuild that already includes promising young pieces around Travis Konecny and Matvei Michkov.

Robertson would give the Flyers a legitimate top-line winger while they still retain enough cap room to negotiate a long-term extension with him next summer.

Nothing suggests talks are advanced, and Robertson has said he wants to stay in Dallas.

But the pieces line up well enough that a move to Philadelphia remains one of the more logical trade scenarios NHL insiders will keep floating this season.
