The Dallas Stars loaded up at the trade deadline, but now their Head Coach has all but confirmed tragic news for round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Dallas Stars have been firming as genuine contenders in the Western Conference for a number of years now, but for one reason or another, they've simply yet to put it all together and go on a deep run when the lights are on brightest.
At this rate, they may have to face their fierce division rivals in the Colorado Avalanche in round one this season, and unfortunately, the latest update from Head Coach Peter DeBoer isn't a good one.
When asked about the availability of star defenseman Miro Heiskanen, DeBoer stated that it was a 'real possibility' the team will need to play without Heiskanen in the first round, and if they take on Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon and the Avs, it would be a major blow.
The 25-year old has been out since late January with a leg injury that occurred against the Vegas Golden Knights, and it may end up costing them their season in 2025.
DeBoer did note that Heiskanen is back in the gym and working hard to get back, but given the physicality of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this isn't something that they want to risk as Heiskanen is set to be a key part of the future for years and years to come.
With one month left in the regular season, thankfully there's still time for him to potentially get back on the ice for round one, but as of right now, all signs point to his return coming in the second round, and if the Stars can survive that far, this may be their year to go on a very deep run.
