After being released from the NHLPA's Player Assistance Program, it appears to be just a matter of time before
Patrik Laine is traded by Columbus, with Montreal being tagged as the logical landing spot for the goal-scoring star. Now however, some other intriguing names have entered the fray, with the Chicago Blackhawks the most interesting of all, as the team reportedly sees Laine as a fit on the top line alongside Connor Bedard.
This report comes from Eklund of Hockey Buzz, and while it would make sense for both parties, especially with Chicago looking to fast-track their rebuild behind their young superstar, according to other reports, there's been no traction on a deal anywhere with training camp on the horizon.
Along with the Chicago report, Eklund notes that the Hurricanes, Islanders, and Kings are teams to watch out for, with the brand new Utah Hockey Club regarded as a dark horse team to watch. Ultimately, it's a matter of when, not if Laine is moved, and if a team on the rise like the Blackhawks can add a 26-year-old former 40-goal scorer alongside a 19-year-old superstar, the future will look that much brighter.
