For the past few seasons, Zach Werenski has emerged as one of the top defenseman in the National Hockey League, and in 2024/25, he took his game to a new level entirely.
Across 81 games played, Werenski tallied career highs in goals (23) and points (82), finishing second to Cale Makar in Norris Trophy voting as he kept the Blue Jackets in the Stanley Cup Playoffs race all season long.
Jim Montgomery Delivers Brutal Disrespect To Werenski
While all of the talk in recent years has been about Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar, Werenski has become a genuine two-way threat and one of the most exciting players in the NHL, but for some, that's not been enough.
Now, the team play the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, and ahead of that matchup, coach Jim Montgomery was attempting to compliment Werenski, but in doing so, he delivered brutal disrespect towards the Blue Jackets star.

Sure, those are the two best defenseman in the NHL, but to forget Werenski's name is just ridiculous, and if this is intended as a fun shot at the Blue Jackets star, it's an even worse look for Montgomery.
After a hot start in 2025/26 with 3 goals and 8 points in 10 games, Werenski is proving once again why he's an elite blue liner in the NHL, and you can bet that he'll use this as motivation to put up a big game against the Blues as a result.
