Possible Romance Between Patrick Kane and Taylor Swift Ruined by Denis Savard
Former Blackhawks head coach Denis Savard reportedly pulled Patrick Kane away from talking to Taylor Swift after a game in Nashville, per NHL analyst Todd Welter.
Denis Savard wasn't much of a rule-follower as a Chicago Blackhawks head coach, but the few he did have were absolute, including Patrick Kane.
One of them? Get on the team bus when Denis Savard is ready to leave, no questions asked. That's what led to Savard breaking up what could have been a front-page-worthy encounter between Patrick Kane and pop star Taylor Swift.
Kane's Encounter With Taylor Swift Occurred During His Rookie Season
The anecdote goes back to Kane's rookie season in 2007-08. When the Hawks hosted the Nashville Predators on the road in mid-February, Savard saw Kane seemingly distracted by two blonde females who were sitting in the stands.
He attributed that momentary lapse in focus to helping Nashville get their sole goal. Even though a video review later showed Kane wasn't even on the ice when it happened, Savard was still annoyed.
After the game, Kane stayed late at the arena, chatting up Swift. But Savard was having no part of it. As the team bus was ready to leave, he told Kane to wrap things up and get on, as rules were rules.
"After the game [in Nashville], a trainer comes in and sees me. He says, 'Alright, everyone is on the bus,' I leave the locker room, as I walk maybe 50 or 40 yards, and I see Kane talking to two young ladies. And I stop and go, 'Really?' Let's go, now. No, no. Excuse me, ladies, there are rules on a hockey team. He needs to be on the bus now. Kane, go now.'"

The next day, Kane informed Savard with whom he had been talking. Savard, not familiar with Swift at the time, had to seek information from his wife.
In retrospect, it was probably for the best. Kane is now a dad to a child with long-time girlfriend Amanda Grahovec.
Swift, meanwhile, had her career take off with hit singles about exes, and seems far more interested in football today, given that she's dating NFL star Travis Kelce.
