Connor Bedard's Blackhawks have struggled in 2024/25, and after being at the centre of that, the young superstar has been called out by Kevin Bieksa.

After a red-hot rookie campaign, it's no secret that Connor Bedard hasn't been at his best in his follow up season, and with the major lack of talent around him, his numbers don't look good.
Those numbers were put on blast by Kevin Bieksa on Hockey Night in Canada, as conversations began about the NHL's Green Jacket (the equivalent to the Masters winning jacket), which is often an unofficial award for the player with the lowest +/- in the NHL throughout the year.
While Bieksa didn't want to call Bedard out by name, he eventually did, putting on blast how bad the numbers look for the young 19-year old in 2024/25 on a very, very bad Blackhawks team.
"We say the Green Jacket in the NHL is the worse plus minus at the end of the year," revealed Bieksa.

"So right now there's a little bit of a race going on, couple of young superstars are in that.

Well, Bedard. I don't want to but I will say it, but hopefully he doesn't win it."

This was something also brought up on social media by former NHLer Mike Commodore, who was quite forthcoming with his criticisms of the players on the list, with Bedard clearly sitting at the top.
A -39 definitely doesn't look good, but anyone with nuance can see exactly why he's at the bottom of the list, and it doesn't mean that the former No. 1 overall pick is bound to struggle forever.
Despite the down season, Bedard still consistently flashes the talent that made him a generational prospect heading into the 2023 NHL Draft, and while he's been called out several times, there's still plenty of optimism that he can blossom into a star in the league.
