Chicago Blackhawks get disappointing update on Connor Bedard after scary injury
Connor Bedard is having a breakout season in 2025/26, but after a freak injury in the team's latest game, he's now set to miss at least the next week.
After two solid seasons to start his NHL career, former No. 1 overall pick Connor Bedard has taken a leap for the Chicago Blackhawks this season, with the team surprisingly sitting at 13-13-6 through their first 32 games.
In that time, Bedard has tallied 19 goals and 44 points, as he not only has the potential to reach 100 points for the first time in his career, but he's making his case to be on Team Canada at the 2026 Olympic Games.
Unfortunately, Bedard recently suffered an injury against the St. Louis Blues, as he departed the ice holding his shoulder, with many fearing that this may end up being a long-term injury.
Elliotte Friedman provides update on Blackhawks superstar
Now, a few days later, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has provided an update on social media, one that will have Blackhawks fans breathing a major sigh of relief for their young star.
While Friedman confirmed that Bedard won't be available until at least this Saturday, he did reveal that while he's headed to Injury Reserve, it's not LTIR, meaning that Bedard won't be missing months of action.
This is a great update for Bedard, as he is likely to be back in the lineup as soon as he's allowed, meaning that he can continue what has been a fantastic, breakout season for the 20-year old, who is finally now proving why he was the clear No. 1 pick in 2023 and seen as a generational prospect.
UPDATE
Bedard will miss the rest of December and be reassessed in January.
