Dillon Boucher had words for Brady Tkachuk in his NHL debut as the Blackhawks lost 5-3 to the Panthers, and Ethan Del Mastro was right in the mix too.
Brady Tkachuk got an earful on Wednesday night, and it came from a guy playing his very first NHL game.
Florida beat Chicago 5-3 in Sunrise, and after Tkachuk and Ethan Del Mastro started getting into it, Dillon Boucher had some words for the Panthers winger.
The post on X shows Tkachuk and Del Mastro going back and forth before Boucher had some words for Brady.
Tkachuk landed in Florida in June, when Ottawa traded him to the Panthers for four draft picks so he could play alongside his brother Matthew.
He also set up Carter Verhaeghe's power play goal in the first period on Wednesday.
Who is Dillon Boucher
Boucher is 29, and the road to Wednesday was a long one.
The Nova Scotia native, from Head Chezzetcook, spent his first three pro seasons with the ECHL's Wichita Thunder, where he was captain, before moving up to Rockford of the AHL.
Chicago recalled him on Tuesday after Patrick Kane went down with an upper-body injury.
He played 8:10 on the fourth line with Ryan Greene and Jordan Greenway and finished without a point, but he clearly came to make noise.
Near the end of the first period, with Chicago down 2-0, he tried to goad Garnet Hathaway into dropping the gloves, and Hathaway didn't bite.
Del Mastro had the better night
Del Mastro finished with two assists and a plus-2 rating in just over 10 minutes.
He helped set up goals by Roman Kantserov and Frank Nazar, the second one shorthanded, as Chicago made a game of it before falling short.
The loss was the Blackhawks' fourth in a row, and they are still the only winless road team in the league at 0-6-1.
A little extra bite from the new guy might not hurt.
