Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Laurent Brossoit, who has yet to play a single game in a Chicago sweater, is back practicing and is now allowed to seek a trade to a club that will allow him more playing time.

The Chicago Blackhawks signed goaltender Laurent Brossoit in 2024 after he completed his second stint with the Winnipeg Jets, but various injuries and surgery have kept him from playing a single game in a Blackhawks sweater.
But now that Brossoit is back practicing with the team, there doesn't appear to be room for him on the team thanks to Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom.
Per NHL analyst Chris Johnston, Brossoit has been given permission by the Blackhawks to seek a trade to a club that can give him more playing time.
He's coming off a double hip surgery, and he's been assigned to the Rockford Ice Hogs on an AHL conditioning stint. That's the next step in his recovery. Now, he's under contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, but they have two goaltenders ahead of him in Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom.

Brossoit's agent Ray Petkau has been given permission to speak to other teams to see if there's interest. There certainly is some out there. They'll be watching how he makes out in his return to the AHL and he will be a goalie that's available in the near future. - Chris Johnston

Brossoit is in the last year of his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $3.3 million.

Laurent Brossoit Has Not Played A Single Game In A Blackhawks Sweater

Brossoit was taken with the 164th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames, but would never play in Calgary and would instead be traded to the divisional foe Edmonton Oilers.
After playing with both the Oilers and Jets, he won a Stanley Cup with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023 before returning for another year in Winnipeg, and then signing a two year contract with the Blackhawks in 2024.
So far in his career, Brossoit is 64-46-13 with a 2.64 GAA and .911 SV%.
