Ex-Oilers forward Noah Philp took what appeared to be a shot at his former team not long after being claimed off the NHL waiver wire by the Carolina Hurricanes.
The era of Noah Philp with the Edmonton Oilers came to a close when he was put on waivers by the team, and then subsequently claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Even though his time with the Hurricanes has been short, he's already been impressed with what he's called the hard working culture of the franchise in what some are calling a thinly-veiled shot at the Oilers.
I'd heard lots of things about a great culture, and so far, I've definitely seen that. It's definitely a hard-working atmosphere. - Noah Philp
In the 15 games that Philp played in an Oilers sweater before being claimed on waivers by the Hurricanes, he had three points (2G, 1A).
Noah Philp Was Never Drafted Into The NHL
Philp was never drafted into the NHL, and signed an entry level contract with the Oilers after playing at the University of Alberta.
He initially began his professional career with the Kootenay Ice of the WHL before later playing for the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Philp also accepted an amateur tryout agreement with the Stockton Heat, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Calgary Flames, with whom he would play two games.
But in 2023, he would announce his retirement from the NHL before eventually making a return to the Condors.
He's appeared in 30 career NHL games and has five points (3G, 2A). Philp is now part of a Hurricanes team that is first overall in the Eastern Conference and has real Stanley Cup aspirations to bring home their first title since 2006, which was won over the Oilers.
