The Carolina Hurricanes have announced a major lineup change for tonight's critical Game 3 as they look for any kind of spark to get back into the series against the Panthers.
The Carolina Hurricanes are in dire straits as they enter Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Florida Panthers.
The Panthers enjoy a 2-0 series lead, winning both games on the road at Lenovo Center and taking a commanding advantage as the series shifts to Florida for Games 3 and 4.
Kochetkov is going to play. Just want to change the vibe a little bit. Kooch is a kid we've had in there all year and he's played well for us.
Andersen came into the series with a strong 8-2 record, but after allowing 9 goals in 2 games against the Panthers and getting pulled, Brind'Amour is switching things up.
I don't blame Freddie on any of the goals that went in. Obviously the save percentage is not great if you look at that. We do need some saves, but I can't blame him on any of them. All the goals have been great shots or plays by them. But again, just want to change the vibe a little bit.
Andersen was pulled by Brind'Amour in Game 3, while the rest of the team was
booed off the ice by Hurricanes fans. Now the net will belong to Kochetkov, at least for the time being.
He'll hope to improve his playoff record, which is currently 2-4 with a .871 SV%.
