Carolina Hurricanes Booed Off the Ice Amid Humiliating Game Against Florida Panthers
The Carolina Hurricanes dropped to 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Florida Panthers, and with the deficit at 4-0 in Game 2, the team were booed off the ice.
The Eastern Conference Finals were meant to be a competitive series, but thus far that hasn't been the case, as the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers have dominated, taking the series to 2-0 as they now head back home for a critical Game 3 and 4.
While the Hurricanes came in with plenty of momentum, they backed up a disappointing performance in Game 1 with another stinker in Game 2, with their home fans getting on them in this one, chanting 'shoot the puck' at the team with three minutes left in the second period, with no goals and just seven shots on net at that point.
Unfortunately, things didn't get much better from there, as the 'Canes left the ice trailing 4-0 after two periods, with their fans in Raleigh raining down boos on their team after what was, simply put, a pathetic performance from the team.
This follows the team being booed at the end of the first period as well, and unless this team can turn things around quickly, it's safe to say that those fans may not get to see their team again in 2025.
Despite playing well for much of the post-season thus far, this loss marks 14 straight in the Eastern Conference Finals for the Hurricanes, with their last victory coming back in 2006, the year they won the Stanley Cup.
At this point, the 'Canes backs are right against the wall, and unless they come out swinging in Game 3 down in Florida, this series may be over, but if they can do that, there's a chance for them to come back and make this a genuine series.
