Guy Chouinard played over 500 games with the Calgary Flames in the 70's and 80's, but now, it has been revealed that he has tragically passed at 69 years of age.
The Flames have a rich history as an organization, dating back to their time in Atlanta before they made the move to Calgary ahead of the 1980/81 NHL season.
In that time, they've had some incredible players, but they've also had many underrated players as well, one of those being Guy Chouinard, who was with the team when they made the move from Atlanta to Calgary.
After being a second-round pick of the Flames in the 1974 NHL Draft, Chouinard would be with the team from 1974 to 1983 before playing his final season in the league with the St. Louis Blues.
Tributes pour in for Guy Chouinard after his passing
In that time, he appeared in 578 NHL games, but on Sunday it was announced that at 69-years of age, the talented forward tragically passed away, with
tributes pouring in on social media.
Not only was he a key piece of the early Calgary Flames teams, he also scored the first goal in Calgary franchise history, with his NHL career coming off the back of a dominant three-season stint in the QMJHL, with the league paying him tribute on social media as well.
We take this time to send our condolences to the family, friends, former coaches and teammates of Chouinard, who will forever be remembered as a key piece of the Calgary Flames history, as well as a fantastic individual off the ice.
Rest in Peace, Guy Chouinard.
