The Calgary Flames are off to a horrific start in 2025/26, and with the team potentially looking at a rebuild, rumours about Nazem Kadri's future have been sparked.

After struggling over the past three years, the Calgary Flames entered 2025/26 with optimism following a surprise season last year, but unfortunately, their early start has left plenty to be desired.
With a 1-6-1 record through eight games, this team clearly doesn't have the talent to contend in the Western Conference, and it's had many start to look at this veteran core and the value the team could get back in a trade.

Nazem Kadri Rumours Sparked by Elliotte Friedman

While many expected the team to move the likes of Rasmus Andersson and Blake Coleman, rumours have begun surrounding star centre Nazem Kadri, who has been arguably the Flames best player in his two seasons with the team.
Now, Elliotte Friedman on the latest episode of Morning Cuppa Hockey has sparked speculation about the future of Kadri, suggesting the team could get a major haul if he is truly available.
Can you imagine the haul that Calgary's going to be asking for, if if if, Nazem Kadri's out there?
Sure, his $7 million AAV deal isn't the easiest to stomach, but over the past two years he's tallied 75 and 67 points with Calgary while playing a dynamic, physical game, and for post-season contenders out there, that deal could easily be taken on.
Ultimately, if the Flames season keeps spiralling early, they'll have no choice but to accept a full-on rebuild and move their top stars, and if Kadri is available, it could net them a major return.
