The Buffalo Sabres are nowhere near the playoff picture, and NHL analyst Jeff Marek has just dropped some massive new information regarding Owen Power.
The Buffalo Sabres almost traded Dylan Cozens to the Detroit Red Wings during the NHL's holiday roster freeze period. They have received bids for him all season and can move him in a deal before the NHL Trade Deadline.
But he's not alone in generating buzz, as surprisingly, defenseman Owen Power could become a tradable asset, too.
Jeff Marek says the Sabres could likely trade Owen Power
Buffalo is willing to entertain trade bids for Power, and possibly even trade him, according to Jeff Marek. Bowen Byram is generating buzz, too, but teams have long been interested in him, even before getting an update over the weekend.
«I wouldn't be surprised if we see something happen (trade-wise) with Owen Power»
Power's availability comes as a surprise. Buffalo drafted him first overall in 2021, and in 2023, he finished runner-up for a Calder Trophy, trailing his former Michigan roommate Matty Beniers.
It's not an easy move for them to make, even with no-trade protection not in full, to move such a significant salary in-season.
Buffalo keeps taking bids for Cozens and Byram, but with a new name in consideration, Sabres fans will have a lot to monitor with regard to a 2025 NHL Trade Deadline move, regardless of whether a move is actually completed.
