Buffalo Sabres forward Tage Thompson blasted his team's worth ethic after they were beaten by the Calgary Flames, the worst team in the Western Conference.
Another loss for the Buffalo Sabres has forward Tage Thompson feeling like he needed to call out the rest of his teammates.
The Sabres lost 4-2 to the Calgary Flames, the worst team in the Western Conference, at home.
After the game, Thompson accused the rest of his team of not respecting the game of hockey enough.
We didn't control things that were within our control tonight and that's puck battles and intensity. I just think we went into every one-on-one battle just casual, just soft.It was just a lack of respect for the game of hockey, thinking you're just gonna go out there casual and the puck's just gonna find you. And it's not the case.
So far this year, Thompson has 17 points (9G, 8A) in 17 games for Buffalo, who are last in the East.
Tage Thompson Has Toiled A Long Time On A Poor Sabres Team
Thompson is arguably the best forward on the Sabres and is also a candidate to be named to the American roster for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics.
But Thompson hasn't once played in a single postseason game, as the Sabres currently have the longest playoff drought in the NHL at 14 years.
Right now, the Sabres are the lowest ranked team in the Eastern Conference, and if things don't turn around soon, they're looking at a 15th straight year without the playoffs.
How much longer will Thompson toil in Buffalo before deciding to ask for a trade?
