Boston Bruins fans are directing a lot of their anger at Elias Lindholm after his comments following the team's latest loss.
The Bruins lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning by a final score of 6-2 yesterday, one of their worst losses of the season.
The team was particularly bad in the second period as they were outscored 3-0 and outshot 21-0 in the frame.
After the game, Bruins center Elias Lindholm noted how the team wasn't playing up to their own standards.
He reiterated that they have a job to do, and need to at least show up for the fans, who in his own words, "pay a lot of money" to watch the team play.
"It was embarrassing. The compete level was nowhere to be found. Unacceptable. The fans pay a lot of money to come here and watch us play. They have every right to boo when the effort was like that. The second period was the worst I've seen us play this year."
While some fans might appreciate Lindholm being transparent and honest, Bruins fans have clearly had enough of it.
One blamed Bruins general manager Don Sweeney for signing Lindholm to his current contract, which does not look like it will age well based on his current production.
Other fans were just as harsh on Lindholm, with many saying he personally needs to be better, in addition to the rest of the team.
Lindholm has 12 goals and 36 points in 68 games this season. His cap hit is just under 8 million dollars with seven years left after this one.
