The Boston Bruins traded franchise icon Brad Marchand a year ago, and now he's had an emotional reaction in his first game back in Boston.

For over a decade and a half, Brad Marchand was a mainstay with the Boston Bruins, helping them to their iconic Stanley Cup win over the Vancouver Canucks back in 2011, with the organization even naming him captain following the retirement of fellow veteran star Patrice Bergeron.
Then, in 2024/25, the team did the unthinkable, flipping Marchand to the Florida Panthers at the trade deadline, with the former Bruins captain going on to win his second career Stanley Cup in the same season.

Marchand Breaks Down Following Tribute Video in Boston

On Tuesday night, Marchand played in Boston for the first time ever as a visiting player, and ahead of the game, the team paid tribute to one of their favourite ever players with a video package before the game.
Going over the incredible highlights both on and off the ice of his career in Boston clearly brought out the emotions in Marchand, as he was seen full of emotion with his new Panthers teammates for the appreciation of both the Bruins organization and the fans.
At the end of the day, there were plenty of emotions that went into the trade of Marchand, as it's something that wasn't taken lightly by GM Don Sweeney and the team, but it was the best thing for both parties involved.
Clearly though, it's all love between Marchand and his former Bruins teammates and the organization, and one day when he officially hangs up the skates, he will be welcomed back to his beloved franchise with open arms.
