Arizona Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo releases a statement on relocation
Today the Arizona Coyotes and their owner Alex Meruelo have released a statement regarding the relocation of the team. This is the first time that the team has acknowledged the situation with Salt Lake City publicly.
In a post on X from the Arizona Coyotes Alex Meruelo released a statement discussing the rumors of him selling the team and moving to Salt Lake City. Alex Meruelo confirms that several issues are unresolved and a final statement will be made once those issues are addressed.

At the moment all signs still point to the NHL moving the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City and Alex Meruelo losing his NHL franchise. Hopefully, in the coming days, the Arizona Coyotes will be able to have an honest and open conversation with their fans. A report from Emily Kaplan confirms that despite losing their team a plan is in place to get a new arena and bring hockey back to Arizona.
