Team Czechia head coach has harsh words for Team Canada's WJC performance

The 2026 World Juniors tournament has been fantastic thus far, and after Sweden punched their ticket to the Gold Medal game with a win over their rival Finland, it was time for Canada and Czechia to do battle for the third straight year in the knockout rounds.

Like the last two, this one resulted in Czechia once again coming out on top, with a late goal enough to seal the win for Czechia, who will now face off with Sweden for a Gold Medal, as Canada are set to face Finland for bronze.

The game was a thriller from start to finish, but at the end of the day, it appeared as though Czechia simply wanted it more, with the team continuing to play at their very best despite Canada's best comeback efforts throughout the night.

Now, Head Coach Patrik Augusta has revealed why his team was able to beat Canada, stating that simply put, his team was just more hungry than the star-studded, overhyped Canadians.

On paper, it's hard to argue with his assessment, as the Czechia team out shot Canada while playing a relentless 60 minutes, and with three straight elimination wins over Canada, it appears as though they just have the Canadian's number.

This will likely lead to Canada re-assessing their processes ahead of next years tournament, because if they lose against Finland, it will be three straight years without a medal, something that should simply be unacceptable for this team and this country.
