Devils fans loudly boo Luke Hughes after scoring two own-goals
The New Jersey Devils have a lot invested in Luke Hughes, and now, fans have booed him relentlessly after a very tough night on the ice.
Luke Hughes has shown immense promise since arriving in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils, and given his potential and his relationship with the biggest star on the team, they rewarded him with a long-term deal this off-season.
That is, despite the immense flaws that come with his game, as he's proven to be one of the most mistake-prone blue liners in the league, and on Sunday night, that came back to haunt the team.
Not only did Hughes put one puck in his own net, but he did it twice in what was an absolute nightmare for the 22-year old, who now has a -4 differential on the season for a very successful Devils team as they battle through with the former No. 4 overall pick struggling.
Devils fans boo Luke Hughes after horrendous performance
Unfortunately for the youngest Hughes, he didn't get let off the hook by Devils fans, as they booed him relentlessly after the performance, with some reports revealing that he was booed at least 10 times by the fans.
That led to some analysts interjecting on social media, as some have even accused him of missing 'hockey sense', an accusation that has followed him since his draft year.
Ultimately, Devils fans have been very patient with Hughes as they wait for Jack's brother to develop, but with the way he's playing, it's safe to say that we may be reaching a boiling point with him, especially with the team seeking a lengthy Stanley Cup Playoffs run.
