Top sports doctor believes Crosby's season may be over after scary injury today
Sidney Crosby has been ruled out for the game against Czechia, but according to a top sports doctor, it may be a long-term injury for Canada's captain.
The 2026 Olympics was expected to be a crowning moment for the loaded Team Canada squad, and after a red-hot run in the group stages, they've run into Czechia in the quarterfinals.
Unfortunately though, the biggest story of the game has been captain Sidney Crosby, who departed the game after several collisions, with Canada's captain officially ruled out for the game as he limped off the bench.
Sidney Crosby's injury may be long-term
It may be much worse than that however, as the early expectation is that unless he gets incredibly lucky, Crosby may be ruled out for the remainder of the Olympics, potentially the last in his iconic career.
Now, renowned sports doctor Harjas Grewal, who is big on social media for providing insights into injuries in the sports world has speculated this could be an MCL injury for Crosby, and if that is the case, it could be much worse than just the 2026 Olympics tournament.
According to Grewal, if it is an MCL injury, it will be much longer than day-to-day, and in the worst case, it could be a long-term injury for the 38-year old who was performing so well for Canada at the tournament.
After making the post however, Grewal watched further film on the play, and thankfully for Canada, he speculated that if Canada advance, Crosby is a 50/50 chance at returning in this tournament.
This is all very premature, and the hope is to get an update on Crosby for Canada and the Pittsburgh Penguins very soon, but for now, there's a chance that this could be a significant injury for No. 87.
