Sidney Crosby's status confirmed after injury against Czechia
Sidney Crosby went down against Czechia, causing chaos for Canada's lines in the quarterfinals, and now we've been given a major update on Captain Canada.
Team Canada entered the 2026 Olympic Games as overwhelming favourites in the mens hockey, and after going through as the No. 1 seed, they drew a very tough Czechia team in their quarterfinals matchup.
The game has been incredibly tight, with both teams battling to book their spot in the medal rounds, but as of right now, the story is captain Sidney Crosby, who left the game with an injury following several collisions against the Czechia squad.
This caused some chaos for Canada, as this forced them to shake up their lines, and while they're still an incredibly star studded squad, if they do end up losing Crosby for a significant period, it could be a backbreaking injury for this team.
Canada provide major update on Crosby
When fans saw him leave the ice, Canadian fans had their hearts in their mouth, and now, Frank Seravalli has provided an official update on No. 87, and unfortunately, it's a bad one for Team Canada and their gold medal hopes, as Crosby will not return to this matchup with Czechia.
Sure, Crosby may no longer be the best player on Team Canada, with this star studded forward group having arguably the three best players on the planet in it, but as usual, No. 87 was always going to be crucial to their hopes at this tournament.
Now, with the teams hopes still alive, we will see how this update effects the team moving forward, but as of right now, this is a story to keep a very close eye on for Canada as they chase gold in the first best-on-best Olympics tournament since 2014.
