Pierre Cronin of Team France, who was already banned from the Olympics for his fight with Team Canada's Tom Wilson, is now facing legal charges over a separate incident.

During a recent 10-2 blowout win by Team Canada over Team France, there was a fight between Tom Wilson and Pierre Cronin after the latter hit forward Nathan MacKinnon with a heavy hit.
Wilson responded by fighting Cronin, and was thrown out of the game; Cronin only got a minor penalty.
But Cronin was then banned for the rest of the Olympics because, in the eyes of the French Hockey Federation, his fight violated the "spirit" of the games.
He's also now facing legal charges for a separate incident of "violent behavior" in the words of the Grenoble Prosecutor's Office.
Given the repetition of acts of violence [...] during the Olympic Games against a Canadian player on Sunday, the prosecutor notes that Mr. Crinon failed to seize the opportunity of the case’s dismissal to cease all violent behavior. - Grenoble prosecutor's office

Pierre Cronin Was Banned For The Rest Of The Olympics

Because of his fight, which is in violation of Olympic rules, Cronin was banned for the rest of the Olympics by the French Hockey Federation in a move that has gotten some criticism from his Team France teammates.
Pierre Crinon's provocative behavior as he left the ice, even though he had just been ejected from the game for fighting, constitutes a clear violation of the Olympic spirit and also undermines the values of our sport. - French Ice Hockey Federation

The French men's Olympic team has had a rough go of it, losing all three games to Switzerland, Czechia and then Canada.
