Team Canada captain Sidney Crosby wasn’t able to play in today’s gold medal game; a loss to Team USA, and he is breaking his silence of not being able to play.

Team Canada suffered perhaps their most heartbreaking loss in recent memory, losing 2-1 in OT to the historical foe Team USA in today’s gold medal game in Milan.
And adding insult to injury, literally, was the fact that captain Sidney Crosby was not able to play because of an injury he suffered in their win over Czechia after two hard hits from Radko Gudas and Martin Necas.
Even though he was rumoured to have a good chance to play today; he wasn’t able to give it a go.
I definitely can feel that it's a lot easier playing than watching but I think everybody should be proud with how the team performed. We did everything but score. In every facet we were just so good today. I thought we deserved better, unfortuantely we didn't come away with the win. - Sidney Crosby

As far as whether or not he was going to be able to play, Crosby just said that he was not able to.
Umm yeah, ultimately I wasn't able to go out there and do what I needed to do to help the team win. - Sidney Crosby

Do The Penguins Have To Worry?

Now that the Olympics have concluded in ice hockey, Crosby will begin the journey back to Pittsburgh to rejoin the Penguins.
But if his injury was serious enough to keep him out of the equivalent of a championship playoff Game 7, there could be some worry on the part of the Penguins on how it could potentially affect the rest of their year.
