Team Slovakia forward Juraj Slafkovsky had a heartbreaking recap of what transpired for his team after their loss to Team USA in the Olympics to end their bid for a gold medal.

Team Slovakia fell way short of their quest for a gold medal, which was denied after their 6-2 loss to Team USA.
They then had the chance to go for a bronze medal, but blew that chance by losing 6-1 to Team Finland.
The Slovakian players will have to go home empty handed. And that is not sitting well with Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky.
In his kind, finishing without a medal win may as well have meant they came in dead last.
I think being fourth and being last is the same thing. We don’t get the medal, so it sucks. - Juraj Slafkovsky
Slafkovsky clearly has national pride and wanted his country to fare better in the Olympics.

Juraj Slafkovsky Was Montreal’s First Overall Pick In The 2022 NHL Entry Draft

Slafkovsky made NHL history when the Montreal Canadiens took him with the first overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the highest drafted Slovakian player ever.
He has played in a Habs sweater ever since, and he was recently re-signed by general managers Kent Hughes to a major extension.
He signed an eight year deal with an AAV (average annual value) of $7.6 million. They clearly see him as one of their most important players and wanted to ensure that he remained with the club for a very long time.
So far this year with the Canadiens, he has 45 points (21G, 28A) in 57 games.
