Buffalo Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram was ejected today for spearing Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jesse Puljujarvi during the IIHF World Championship.

Today, Bowen Byram broke the code when Team Canada faced off against Team Finland during the World Championship as he speared Jesse Puljujarvi in the groin.

Bowen Byram was given a game misconduct for this slash to the uhhhhh..private area of Jesse Puljujarvi.

Puljujarvi was obviously not a fan of Byram's actions and was quick to respond to it.

Both Byram and Puljujarvi were former 4th overall picks, Byram to Colorado in 2019 and Puljujarvi to Edmonton in 2016. Neither has had a stellar start to their careers both being traded away with Byram now playing in Buffalo and Puljujarvi being traded to Carolina before landing in Pittsburgh as a free agent.

Puljujarvi had a solid season considering how he recovered from double hip surgery and has shown out strong for Team Finland scoring five points through five World Championship games.

Before his midseason trade to Buffalo, Bryam only scored 20 points in 55 games with the high-powered Avalanche but after his trade, he saw a slight improvement in his scoring potting nine points in 18 games with the Sabres. The Stanley Cup champion is expected to make a massive impact on the Sabres blue line for years to come.
