The OHL's Oshawa Generals sent an unusual notice to fans requesting that they practice proper hygiene before attending games for the comfort of all.

Nothing has gone right for the OHL's Oshawa Generals this year, as they have the not only the worst record in the league but are also tied for the worst goal differential (-77) with the Erie Otters.
The team drew some controversy when Jason Hickman, Director of Ticket Sales & Service, sent out a notice to fans requesting that they shower before games.
We're thrilled to have you with us each and every game and appreciate the energy you bring to the arena. To help ensure a clean, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for everyone, we kindly ask for your cooperation with a few simple hygiene practices.

Please make use of the hand-sanitizing stations located throughout the arena, cover coughs and sneezes, and be mindful of personal cleanliness while sharing our space with fellow fans. - Oshawa Generals

The notice continued:
If you’re feeling unwell, we encourage you to take care of yourself and cheer us on from home when possible. If you went to the gym or did something that produced body odor, please shower before attending the game.

These small actions make a big difference in keeping our community healthy and our events running smoothly. - Oshawa Generals

The Generals Lightheartedly Apologized For The Initial Notice

A short time later following considerable backlash, the Generals put out a lighthearted "apology" note to their fans.
Hey Gensnation, We took a penalty on that last one. It’s not our place to overstep like we did. We are sorry and hopefully we can wash this one off. - Oshawa Generals
It's just the latest bit of bad press for the worst team in the OHL so far this year.
